Hi, Parents! It's my honor to be your child's third-grade teacher! I've held my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential since 1992 but started working full-time as a teacher in 2000. After staying home with my children, until my youngest of three was in Kindergarten, I returned to the classroom first as a substitute, then a long-term sub and finally a third-grade teacher. I've also taught fifth grade but right now I love the grade I'm at!!! All three of my children are off on their own; my oldest, Claire is in medical school in New York, my middle, Eliza is living and working in D.C. after just completing a Fulbright in Nicaragua and my "baby" Gabriel is in his second year at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. I will tell you in all honesty the words I live by in raising, what I consider to be three happy, well-adjusted, and successful adults are: Feed, Water, Love, Talk, and Read.
- Feed them: Have meals together with no distractions
- Water them: Just like any plant that needs to thrive, so too do children need the basic ingredients for a healthy and happy life
- Love them: Really let them know, look at them when you talk to them, hold them and never miss the opportunity for a hug
- Talk to them: Really talk to them and listen, not just hear them. They are interesting and funny people; enjoy your children
- Read to them: I know you're tired at the end of a long day, but reading is the key to success in this world we live in (my children thank me to this day for reading to them through their school years)
